GÆG (global aesthetic genetics), founded in 2005 by the Munich artists Wolfgang Aichner and Thomas Huber, is known for spectacular but also subtle art projects, often in untouched remote landscapes. The artist duo approaches its projects with humour and prudent planning, sparing no effort or way to realise its artistic aspirations without compromise, even in extreme situations. Their "passage2011" (2011), in which the artists pulled a red plastic boat weighing 150 kilograms by hand over the main ridge of the Alps and brought it to the 54th Venice Biennale, is still fondly remembered. The actions "powerwalk" (2013), "linear" (2017) and "UND ENDLICH" (2021) also take place outdoors, largely away from the public eye. Only photos, short films and sculptures as independent artworks convey haunting moments of their expeditions.
